VOLUNTEER IT MENTOR

Maryam Tse is an engineer with 30 years industry experience at various leadership levels. She is an advocate for women in STEM and serves on the Board of the Society of Women Engineers Ottawa Affiliate. Maryam believes in providing support for youth who may not have family members or an existing network in the technology field, in order to help them transition into the field.

Robert Hanak

Robert Hanak

VOLUNTEER IT MENTOR

Robert Hanak is a retired Software Engineer with extensive experience in Business Intelligence tools (Cognos, Oracle) and programming languages. He developed www.windmaran.com; a website that features Python and JavaScript programming courses and manuals for beginners and for the purpose of teaching teenagers to learn to code. He also wrote several manuals (free to download) for students who do not have any prior experience with programming languages. Shane O’Callaghan

Shane O’Callaghan

VOLUNTEER IT MENTOR

Shane O’Callaghan  is currently a Senior Software Developer at Alessa, by Tier1 Financial Solutions and has over 8 years technology experience in software development and design. He is a natural problem solver, highly motivated and dedicated to every new challenge. Outside of software development he spends his spare time repairing computers, bikes, or any broken items he can get his hands on. He strongly believes in the practical value of technical skills and the importance of passing these skills onto the next generation. He has been lucky to have had the opportunity to explore this passion in his career and wants to help open the doors of the industry to interested youths.  

Zach Abrahams

Zach Abrahams

VOLUNTEER IT MENTOR

Zach Abrahams has experience in previous volunteer roles at Ronald McDonald House Charities, the City of Hamilton, and Mohawk College, where he often interacted with youth. He completed his college education with honours at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario and is currently working at MDA, a space system company. His job at MDA includes design and development of space flight vision systems. Recently, he completed his Professional Practice Exam for OACETT further developing his knowledge in professionalism and professional practice. Zach enjoys mentoring students who are trying to enter the technology industry through Code Youth and he is happy to provide support for participants in the learning program.
