Code Mobile – Computer Lab on Wheels

A mobile computer lab that travels to different cities and teach coding to youth.

Code Mobile - Computer Lab on Wheels

In 2016, Code Mobile transformed a cargo van into a computer lab on wheels and took a road trip across Canada, hosting pop-up technology workshops for youth, teens, and teachers. During their first trip, they reached 10,000 learners coast to coast, in big towns and small.

This summer, with the help of CanCode, Code Mobile is expanding their project to include workshops for adult learners. After only three years of full time operation, Code Mobile has reached more than 140,000 learners, visited over 250 cities, and driven more than 150,000 kilometers.

Code Mobile wants to teach people how to use and build technology, rather than just consume it. They aim to teach and inspire demographics that are underrepresented in the technology sector, including women, Indigenous peoples, and visible minorities.
